Country data

Country-level figures (population, growth rate, density, median age, fertility, life expectancy, migration) come from the United Nations World Population Prospects 2024, medium variant. Years up to 2023 are estimates; years from 2024 onward are projections and are labelled as such.

City data

City populations and coordinates come from GeoNames (places with more than 15,000 inhabitants). City figures refer to the city proper, not the metropolitan area, so they can differ from agglomeration figures you may see elsewhere.

Updates

City data is refreshed monthly from GeoNames daily dumps. Country data follows the UN revision cycle (next: WPP 2026). Every page states its source and retrieval date.
